Hindi ka pala maglilinis ng pilak

Hindi ka pala maglilinis ng pilak,
mamamaalam ka na pala
sa binubuo mong mga pangarap

Sa mura mong edad
‘pinamukha sa’yo ang kasuka-sukang reyalidad
na kahit ang karapatan ng mga kabataang
mag-aral, matuto, ay may bayad…

Mahal.

iyong naiwan

‘Krus’

‘Tito Noy’

Screen shot of the President's website

In his new website, President Benigno Aquino II, wants to be known as “Tito Noy.”

In one section of  the site, he called on the people and the youth to become “active nation-builders.”

“P-Noy wants to involve our children, the future leaders of our country, by engaging them to be builders of the greatness of our culture,” the site said.

President Aquino II, in colorful illustrations, taught young Filipinos the following “lessons”:

Respect the Philippine flag
Always be on time
Be courteous. Say ‘po’ and ‘opo’
Study well
Conserve energy. Turn off the lights when not in use
Eat fruits and vegies

But his communicators might have forgotten Tito Noy’s plan with regard to the youth and their role in nation building:

Aquino stands pat on SK abolition

Tito Noy wants the youth to become “active nation builders,” and yet he wants the SK – a venue where young Filipinos can participate in nation-building – abolished!

So long as the Filipino youth are courteous, fruit and veggie eating, on time and energy conscious individuals, our Tito Noy have no problems doing away with an institution that has trained countless young leaders in government.

But while I agree that there are problems with the current SK system, I strongly believe it shouldn’t be abolished all together.

SK should be strengthened.

“Is it a deliberate attempt to discourage young Filipinos from participating in local governance? Such a statement made while hundreds of thousands of youth are waiting in line to register for the October 25 SK polls is insulting to us young Filipinos who want to help transform the country’s political and social landscape. Is Pnoy watching the news lately? Kabataan Partylist Rep. Raymond Palatino said.
